Pilgrimage to Middlebrook

This past Sunday, we made a mini-pilgrimage to a Russian church tucked back in the Virginia hillsides. Our priest’s son and two others from our mission came along for the ride.

After a full potluck meal at the church (they serve a full lunch b/c many people like us drive a considerable distance), we headed out on a little adventure to Goshen Pass.

Skipping rocks at the river. I love our young people: wholesome, good-natured, and easily entertained.

A beautiful day spent in worship and fellowship!

Great pictures. The church is beautiful, as is the river. What a lovely Sunday surrounded by God’s majestic creation.

    Lovely!

I like getting a peek at other Orthodox churches. Can’t ever go wrong with a river photo either!

    Peace, Janelle

OH! While looking at the parish website, I saw the blog by the priest. As luck would have it, I’ve read some of his articles in another place on the web. (orthodoxcircle.com, kinda like a facebook for Orthodox)

It’s a small Orthodox web world indeed!

I love how you wrap your head scarves! I’m trying to cover full time but I’m always looking Muslim and then, there I am munching on bacon and stuff… and being totally not Islamic!!!!!

Do you ever have pictures showing how to wrap veils the way you do?

I laughed when I read your comment about loving “our young people” ~ are you old enough to say that??? 🙂

Quotes

"I can't say I don't believe in your God, but I don't believe He meant the world to be as it is." ~Nicholas Higgins. North and South.

"I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It's when you know you are licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what." No idea where that last quote came from, but I like it!
