The Sevens List

This is what I am memorizing:

The Corporal Works of Mercy
Feed the Hungry
Give Drink to the thirsty
Clothe the naked
Shelter the homeless
Visit the sick
Visit those in prison
Bury the dead

The Spiritual Works of Mercy
(“Charity towards our Neighbor’s Soul”)
Convert the sinner
Instruct the ignorant
Counsel the doubtful
Comfort the sorrowful
Bear wrongs patiently
Forgive injuries
Pray for the living and the dead

Seven Mortal Sins
Lust
Gluttony
Greed – acquisition of wealth, hoarding, miserliness
Sloth
Wrath (Anger)
Envy
Pride

Seven Virtues
Chastity
Temperance
Charity
Diligence
Patience
Kindness
Humility

If we all lived according to the corporal and spiritual works of mercy, how VERY much better the world would be. Thanks for the reminder to keep trying to do my part.

Quotes

"I can't say I don't believe in your God, but I don't believe He meant the world to be as it is." ~Nicholas Higgins. North and South.

"I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It's when you know you are licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what." No idea where that last quote came from, but I like it!
