Mary Reflex

Funny story from our Baptist Church this past weekend:

The pastor was “teaching” about Mary being a 13 year old girl and he asked for a similarly aged girl in the teen section to raise her hand. A girl actually did so. He had her come up front to stand next to him on stage.

“You are Mary now.” And he continued talking…

She, meanwhile, flipped up the hood of her hoodie jacket to cover her head!

The hoodie was a light color with a blue lining. Very Mary.

I joke you not.

    Interesting instinct.

You might enjoy some of the more detailed stories of Mary’s younger years and older years that the Orthodox Church has not forgotten. It’s not IN the Scriptures, but does not contradict them either, and so perfectly fits, actually, that it leaves one amazed. Several Orthodox Marian feasts are based on those stories, including the feast of her conception by St. Anna which was celebrated this week.

"I can't say I don't believe in your God, but I don't believe He meant the world to be as it is." ~Nicholas Higgins. North and South.

"I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It's when you know you are licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what." No idea where that last quote came from, but I like it!
