When I was ten year old girl, I was the only one of my age group that I knew of at school, neighborhood, or at church that knitted. The next skill I learned was how to spin my own yarn. Again…I was in the company of middle-aged women at a spinner’s guild. Instead of saving my money for a CD player or some other new thing at the time, I saved for an Ashford wheel. Kids teased me for my hobbies. I didn’t care…it was fun! Who knew knitting would become the hobby/artform de rigeur!
Anna S asked for knitting projects we are working on. Here it is.
Baby items are my “meat and potatoes” type of knitting. They work up fast, are portable and extremely cute. 🙂 Its always nice to have a hat and bootie set on hand for a shower gift. Since my sis-in-law may have a preemie this time around, (and doesn’t know the sex of the baby) I made up some white booties. They are stuffed with kleenex to make them stand up. The hat, as you can see, is in progress. I use Baby Bernat yarn almost exclusively now because it is soft and has some body to it.
