Confession Time

For the majority of you who read this confession, it will seem like the silliest thing to “forgive”. If there is one thing I’ve learned, if you experience conviction over a personal sin, it is not silly. So, this is what I did last night:

Painted my toes with Ruby Slipper red nail polish. Actually the first coat was in a darker shade of red and I added the shimmery top coat.

Back Story: I haven’t painted my nails in more than a year. For most of my teenage through adult life, I’ve kept my toes painted because I felt “naked” without the shinny coat of pink or red or green(!) I wear sandals as much as possible, so my toes are out there in public.

Soon after I became engaged (November 2005), I decided that if Jeff didn’t care, neither did I have to care about whether my toes were pretty to the world. I chucked all (I thought) of my nailpolish. I found two bottles of red a few weeks ago in the back of a drawer. Hmmm…I didn’t throw them away but sat them on my vanity top.

Last night, I just grabbed the bottles and did a petticure right there in the living room. Jeff complained about the smell; I realized how much that stuff stinks! Two coats, and there they are, all sparkly red. Jeff commented: “You’ll just put on socks and shoes tomorrow and no one will know you did that.”

The funny thing is, I don’t own any more nail polish remover! So, I have to purchse a $1 bottle to get the stuff off…and then I won’t need it anymore! How frivolous and how sad is this.

I don’t like nail polish. I don’t need nail polish. I’m throwing the junk AWAY.

"I can't say I don't believe in your God, but I don't believe He meant the world to be as it is." ~Nicholas Higgins. North and South.

"I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It's when you know you are licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what." No idea where that last quote came from, but I like it!
