Book Finds

Just after work this evening, I decided to “drive by” where the Friends of the Public Library annual book sale was being held. I saw there were a passel of people going in, I parked and joined them. I’m so glad I did! Here is what I bought for…$2.75!

  • Childbirth Without Fear, Grantly Dick Read., 2nd Edition 1953. It came from the collection of a local doctor.
  • Early American Textiles, Frances Little, 1931.
  • Agriculture for Elementary Schools, published in 1933 for Oklahoma Public Schools.
  • Food and Clothing, text book for domestic science classes, 1914.
  • The Politics of Jesus, John Howard Yoder.
  • Etiquette, Emily Post, 1942. This is my treasure! It only has a slight scratch on the cover, but otherwise is pristine. It also has a special chapter in the back for “War Times.”

Jeff and I are going back tomorrow morning. I didn’t even make it to the children’s section. ;)

Quotes

"I can't say I don't believe in your God, but I don't believe He meant the world to be as it is." ~Nicholas Higgins. North and South.

"I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It's when you know you are licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what." No idea where that last quote came from, but I like it!
